  7. Abstract:
  8. The use of dental implants has grown considerably in recent years in Iran but this piece is the industrial imported parts that are not yet produced in Iran. So the main purpose of this research was to fabricate a dental implant from Ti-6Al-4V alloy by CNC machining techniques. On the other hand, the poor bonding strength of bioactive coatings and low cell growth on the surface of uncoated implants are the common problems in the use of dental implants. So another aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Nanoscale surface topography and nanostructured coatings on the surface modification of titanium implant in order to improve Osseointegration and the bonding strength of bioactive coatings in dental implant. With the help of nanotechnology in the field of surface treatment, surface topographies of nanostructured titanium oxide such as nanotubes and coatings such as nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite / chitosan nanocomposite were applied on the dental implant surface. Toxicity test results showed that nanocomposite coatings with 10 wt% chitosan were biocompatible. Finally, the coatings and surface topographies were characterized by XRD, FTIR, FESEM, EDS, MTT, pin on disk and microhardness testes and the effect of nanostructured coatings and surface topographies on the biological, physical, mechanical and chemical properties of the dental implant were investigated. The results showed that the adhesion/propagation of MG63 osteoblast cells was substantially improved by the topography of the titanium oxide nanotubes and nanostructured Hydroxyapatite coating compared to microstructured surfaces. But nanocomposite coating and microstructured topographies showed more roughness and more bonding strength compared to nanostructured topographies. It was found that the hierarchical hybrid micro/nano surface of the implant had improved mechanical, chemical and biological properties that can promote osseointegration in the earliest stage of implantation, and may be a promising option for further clinical use
