  7. Abstract:
  8. Nowadays, due to the growing need of the human to further improve the health of the community, research in the field of pharmacology as well as simulation of the cell culture environment is increasing. One of the most important requirements for simulating cell culture is the use of concentration gradient in culture media. The reason for this is the dependence of cellular activity on the presence of a gradient of concentration in the environment. Also, in drug investigations, in order to speed up the examination of different drugs and reduce the amount of drug that will used, different concentrations of the drug should be considered simultaneously in the microchips. Therefore, to make the required concentrations, the concentration gradiant generators should be used. In this study, a concentration gradiant generator device was designed and developed for pharmaceutical studies. To carry out the design process, a mathematical model was first introduced for the function of the device; using this model, the initial design of the chip was done. Then, in order to investigate various construction processes and design parameters, the initial model was constructed and the necessary studies were done on it. Finally, using the results of a prototype study, two devices, one for the production of a concentration gradiant of eight different drug concentrations, and another for the production of a slope of the concentration of three different drugs, were designed and constructed. Finally, the performance of the two devices was evaluated and then, using indirect optical methods, the performance of each device was examined. The results of the study indicate that the device has a good concentration of eight concentrations up to μl / min, and also a multi-drug device with a maximum flow rate of μl / min. The built-in chips have the ability to connect to two-dimensional and three-dimensional cell culture chips and can be used to study the effect of different concentrations of a drug on the cell, as well as the effect of the combination of two drugs on each other's function
