    Broadcast Efficient Verifiable Secret Sharing

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini Beghayi Ravari, Amir (Author) ; Izadi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Verifiable secret sharing (VSS) is one of the basic problems in the theory of distributed cryptography and has important role in secure multi-party computation. In this case, it is tried to share a confidential data as secret, between multiple nodes in a distributed system, in the presence of an active adversary that can destroy a number of nodes, such that the secret can be reconstructed with the participation of certain size of honest nodes. There are two types of active adversary; Static and dynamic which the latter can change it’s corrupted nodes among the protocol. VSS protocols have different types of algorithmic complexity and one of these definitions, is the use of broadcast channel...

Reinforcement Learning Approach in Self-Assembly Systems to Acquire Desired Structures

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ravari, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Bagheri Shouraki, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Self-Assembly (SA) plays a critical role in the formation of different phenomena in nature. This phenomenon can be defined as an arrangement of meaningful patterns with the aggregate behavior of simpler structures. One of the examples of Self-Assembly can be considered of the formation of ice crystals from ice molecules. Previous works mainly focus on graph grammar and self-assembly in fully observable environments. These algorithms mainly consist of two main stages: first, constructing simpler structures and then joining these simpler structures to form a complex structure. The challenges of the previous work can be considered as the necessity of a central controller in the formation of...

Analysis of Nonlinear Methods in Compressed Sensing

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Amini, Arash (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Compressed sensing theory with the goal of sparse recovery using as few measurements as possible, has found much attention in the past decade. A fundamental assumption in compresses sensing is the linear nature of the measurements, that establishes a matrix equation between the unknowns and unknowns. However, in some applications, the physics of the problem may impose some type of nonlinear relationship between the unknowns and the measurements. Some solutions concerned with this type of problems, approximate the nonlinear relationship using a second order Taylor expansion. Using this approximation besides some modifications in the way the second order relationship is presented, a more simple...

    Investment Maximization Transmission Expansion Planning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Arabali, Amir Saman (Author) ; Hosseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Trasmission system is one of the most important parts of the power system which not only creates an interface between generation and distribution section, but also provides a reliable and non-descriminated environment between them. In recent years, restructuring is introduced in many countries of the world. The competition is begun in generation section while, the transmission section was remained monopoly. Private investors don't have enough incentive to invest in this section, because, the presence of uncertainties have made decision making hard for them and increased the investment risk. On the other hand, with increase in consumption and generation, need to invest in this section seems...

Improving Payload Attribution Systems for Network Forensic Applications

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Mohammad (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Payload Attribution Systems (PAS) are one of the most important tools of network forensics for detecting offenders and victims after the occurrence of a cybercrime. A PAS stores the network traffic history in order to detect the source and destination pair of a certain data stream in case a malicious activity occurs on the network. The huge volume of information that is daily transferred in the network means that the data stored by a PAS must be as compact and concise as possible. Moreover, the investigation of this large volume of data for a malicious data stream must be handled within a reasonable time. For this purpose, several techniques based on storing a digest of traffic using Bloom...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini Monazzah, Amir Mahdi (Author) ; Miremadi, Ghassem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Deterministic and Predictable behaviors are two important constraints in real-time embedded systems. Using cache memories alongside of CPUs may lead to nondeterministic and unpredictable behaviors in embedded systems. To avoid these behaviors, embedded system designers use Scratchpad Memories (SPMs). In addition, using embedded systems in safty-critical applications need to include reliability and fault tolerance. The first challenge to using SPM is the management of its contents, called SPM Mapping. SPM Mappingconsists of three important parts:1) Determining the most frequent parts of programs, 2) Efficient assignment of SPM area to those parts, and 3) Controlling the transitions of those...

    Probabilistic Approach for Multi-label Classification

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini Akbarnejad, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Soleymani, Mahdie (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In machine learning, classification is of great importance. Unlike the traditional single-label classification in which one instance can have only one label, in multi-label classification tasks, an instance can be associated with a set of labels. Multi-label classifiers have to address many problems including: considering correlations between labels, handling large-scale datasets with many instances and a large set of labels, and having only a fraction of valid label assignments in the training set. To tackle datasets with a large set of labels, recently embedding-based methods have been proposed which seek to represent the label assignments in an intermediate space. Subsequently, given the...

    Abstract
Radioactive wastes are generated at different stages of the nuclear fuel cycle and other activities related to the handling of the radioactive substances. In order to protect human being and the environment from any harmful effects of ionizing radiation, it’s necessary to isolate radioactive waste by disposing them in near surface or deep geological formations (depending on the radioactive hazard). To ensure that the waste is properly isolated from the environment for required periods of time, the safety assessment of the disposal site is essential. Transport of radionuclides from the disposal site to the environment is the essential part at any safety assessment program. Therefore,...

Optical Conductivity of Fermi Arc States

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hamidi Ravari, Zeinab (Author) ; Jafari, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Recently, some materials, such as Weyl and Dirac semimetals, have been found in condensed matter physics whose band structure behaves like Weyl fermions of elementary particles near some points of the first Birillouin zone. The Weyl equation that governs these materials, have boundary because they are finite. By applying proper boundary conditions, two-dimensional surface states have been emerged. these states are called fermi arc sates because the surface corresponding to the fermi energy is not a closed surface. Surface states are mixed with bulk states because by getting close to the end of fermi arcs, surface states tend to bulk states con-tinuously. Being able to distinguish between...
