, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Motamedinezhad, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyse the technological transition of a new clean energy technology in the market. The agent-based modeling is used in national innovation chain to describe knowledge spillover between main actors in innovation procedure in order to attain renewable energy technology (RET) from basic research to commercial stage. Government’s expenditure on training human resource and R&D activities is modeled as a tool to analyse the development of innovation chain in order to increase diffusion rate of the new technology. Application of the knowledge flow model is demonstrated through analysis of introduction of solar PV in the energy system of Iran and...

Analysis of Success Factors in Technological Cooperations in Nanotech Industry-a Multiple Case Study

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Malekifar, Mehdi (Author) ; Sheikhzadeh, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Innovative small tech companies are required to often have cooperation with large companies in order to scale-up and commercialize their products. Such cooperation is referred as “Technological Cooperation” since it relies on development and commercialization of technology. In this research, as a multiple-case study in the arena of nanotechnology, five cases of technological cooperation are analyzed and key successful factors are identified. In this endeavor, 15 comprehensive interviews were conducted with both small tech companies and technology applicant companies, including experts of Nanotechnology Innovative Council (INIC) – playing the role of a mediator. Due to lack of a comprehensive...

Conceptual Developments in the Evolution of Innovation Systems Approach

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mousavi, Arash (Author) ; Kermanshah, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The systemic approach to innovation plays a central and somewhat unifying role within the field of innovation studies. The main tenets of the approach were developed during the last decades of twentieth century by a bunch of researchers who were tackling with the problem of the economic nature of innovation and its role in growth and competitiveness. The innovation systems approach spread out rapidly throughout the globe and established itself as a framework for studying and policy making in academia and national and supranational organizations. This vast and fast expansion, however, was accompanied by a set of critical contemplations on the theoretical soundness of the approach and also by...

This study's primary purpose is to investigate and identify the logic governing startup visas as a mechanism for attracting innovative foreign entrepreneurs. Also, identifying the factors affecting the attraction and retention of innovative startups and entrepreneurs and determine the factors that create attractiveness for...

Development of a Model for Assessing the Optimal Allocation of Innovation Resources in the Energy Technologies and Knowledge Flow

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Miremadi, Iman (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Energy innovation is essential for tackling climate change. However, an established set of indicators, that can support policy makers in their design of policy mixes, has not been developed for evaluating the performance of energy innovation systems. So, one of the purpose of this study is to list and classify a large set of indicators of the performance of energy innovation systems at sectoral and technological levels. 120 listed indicators are evaluated using four usefulness criteria, demonstrating significant weaknesses in the available indicators. The indicators are also classified according to an innovation process categorization to see if they cover all aspects of an innovation system...

DS-CDMA Acquisition Using Adaptive Filters and Sampling at the Rate of Innovation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nazari Hashemi, Hamid (Author) ; Aleam Marvasti, Farrokh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In modern wireless mobile telephony networks, DS-CDMA based physical layers has gained much attention due to their ease of implementation at relatively low overall cost, ability to provide high speed data services, increased user capacity, and many other outstanding features. One of the challenges facing these systems is the synchronization of the users’ signature codes (received via communication channel) to the receiver’s locally generated replica, as the only distinguishing feature between users in such systems is the pseudo-orthogonal properties of these signature codes. To fully utilize this orthogonality, all sequences need to have a common time reference. But when relative sequence...

Knowledge Sharing in Project-based Organizations Case Study: Kayson Inc

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naeem, Samira (Author) ; Isaai, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor) ; Sepehri, Mehran (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A company's knowledge is one of its most valuable assets. In this regard, project-based companies operating temporarily with constantly changing project members try hard to manage their knowledge, an important asset that also provides them with a competitive advantage. One of the biggest challenges of project-based organizations is how to facilitate the processes of sharing knowledge which enables the organization to capture and implement its knowledge successfully. In this study, the governance mechanisms of innovation ecosystems are used to support the effective use of knowledge-sharing mechanisms across projects and subgroups of the organization. This study analyzes Kayson holding as its...

Weak Fialure of Engineered Innovation Networks: The Analysis and Explanation of the Phenomena Based on Process Approach and by Using Knowledge Base Concept

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Nilforoushan, Hadi (Author) ; Arasti, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This document, is the thesis on the field of science and technology policy. The subject is the analysis and explanation of engineered innovation networks based on process approach and by using knowledge base concept. The failure of networks is one of the causes of the failure in the innovation systems, so the analysis of the phenomena would be very important for innovation policy makers for networking. The two main questions of this study are:
    a) How do engineered innovation networks fail in the initiation stage?
    b) How could we explain this process by using the concept of the knowledge base of innovative activities? During this study, which has beed done based on the...
