Investigation of Formation Damage with Oil-Based Mud (Invert Emulsion) Using Microfluidic Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Madanchi, Parham (Author) ; Mahani, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Formation damage is one of the most important challneges in hydrocarbon production; drilling mud invasion is one of its common types. This damage is caused by the penetration of the drilling fluid into the porous media, which its filtrate and solid pareticles block the pores and cause permeability reduction. The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the pore-scale mechanisms of the formation damage induced by invert-emulsion drilling fluid and to investigate the effect of adding nanoparticles to the drilling fluid on the severity of the damage using microfluidic technique. According to the latest published articles, there has not been any research conducted at the pore-scale with...

Design of Drug Nanocarriers Based on Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Coated with Smart Polymers

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mazaheri Tehrani, Zahra (Author) ; Pourjavadi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles have broad application in drud delivery systems due to their porous structure, functionalization, biocompatibility, high surface area and pore volume. Neverthless, pure mesoporous silica nanoparticles without functionality were not smart material and could not release drug in triggered and controlled manner. For this reason, using smart polymeric coating would be considered. Polymer shells also provide colloidal stability, improved blood circulation lifetime and reduced toxicity which are crucial for efficient in vivo drug delivery. Inflammatory and tumor tissue have low pH and high temperature as compared to health tissue. Therefore, using pH and...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammad-Beigi, Hossein (Author) ; Yaghmaei, Soheyla (Supervisor) ; Arpanaei, Ayyoob (Supervisor) ; Roosta Azad, Reza (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
The aim of this work is fabrication of magnetite@silica@gold particles. Study of the effect of pH showed that increasing pH from 9 to 12 resulted in a decrease in the size of magnetite nanoparticles from 7.9±1.38 nm to 5±0.64 nm. The TEM results indicated that modifying magnetic nanoparticles with sodium citrate prior to coating with silica leads to a narrow particle size distribution (275±16.1nm) and less number of silica nanoparticles without any magnetite core. Three methods were applied for attachment of gold nanoparticles seeds onto the silica surface: 1) use of an electrostatic interaction between positively-charged aminated silica and negatively-charged gold nanoparticles surfaces, 2)...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaznavi Doozandeh, Soheil (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The research shows that the compressive strength of concrete reduced by replacing crumb rubber in concrete mix design compared to normal concrete mix design. Crumb rubber is usually provided from recycled rubber from automotive and truck scrap tires. During the recycling process steel and triviality are removed, leaving tire rubber with a granulose cohesiveness. The additional crumb-rubber aggregate has a significant effect on concrete mix porosity which affects both the plastic state workability and hardened state mechanical properties. This research depicts an...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Askari, Majid (Author) ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor) ; Akbari, Hmid (Supervisor) ; Khoobi Shourkaei, Mahdi (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, the use of mesoporous silica nanoparticles as carriers of biological agents has increased. The use of nanometer dimensions in intra-body applications not only hides the particles from the view of macrophages and the body's immune system, but also causes the particles to enter the cells more easily through endocytosis. Template removal method is the most common method in the synthesis of mesoporous silica. In this method, the orderly arrangement of pattern-forming molecules is used to form pores. Until now, various types of organic materials have been used as pattern materials. The main goal is the synthesis of nanoparticles with the largest size of holes and the largest...

Meanwhile, utilizing the super-magnetic systems could be very helpful as well. For instance, separation of the the magnetic nano-particles like Fe3O4 from reaction system using an external magnetic field is easily possible. In this study,...

We have reported a new and efficient synthesis of tetrahydrothiopyrano [2,3-b]indole skeletons via unique tandem reaction of indoline-2-thiones to Baylis-Hillman adduct acetates. This protocol is a very mild and simple method for construction heterocycles in a one-step process. This is a convenient and diastereoselective synthesis of methyl 4-aryl-2,3,4,9-tetrahydrothiopyrano[2,3-b]indole-3-carboxylate systems in the presence of K2CO3 in acetonitrile. The major benefits of the current study are the one-pot procedure, high yields and diastereoselectivity, short reaction times and the similarity of the products to the biologically active moieties.
    In addition 1, 4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2]...
